On the road again

Updated: Jun 27, 2022

After our successful 4-day road trip to Minneapolis, we got slightly over-motivated, I guess. Ray received a teaching invite from YWAM Ozarks, and we decided to pack the car again (this time only one big suitcase) and roll down the interstate. After one night near Kansas City, we arrived on Sunday in Ozarks, we stayed four nights and took the same route back to Minneapolis.

Ray enjoyed teaching and we got to know some nice people. The students gave Ray some great feedback. They said his teaching, gave them a much deeper understanding of the writings of the Apostle Paul. Even though all three of us do not want to hear the word "road trip" for a while, it was absolutely worth it.

For now, we are happy to be back in Minneapolis.

Last week, I had my first meeting with Cristal (leader of the previous pregnancy ministry). She really would love to help mothers in need again. At the moment, the housing situation does not accommodate any space for this kind of ministry. The two buildings YWAM Minneapolis is using right now have only enough space for students and single staff. Ray and I are staying there only until mid-August when the new students arrive since the houses are quite empty during the summer break. We don't know yet where we will live after that. That is something we are definitely praying about. We still don't have enough support to afford rent in this area. Maybe we will find affordable housing and don't need as much. We don't know and we definitely have to trust God.

But back to the pregnancy ministry: Cristal and I will meet once a week to pray and talk about it. During our chat, we discovered that her heart goes mainly to the moms while my focus is a lot on the babies. I think that is a good combination. Of course, I love the moms and Cristal loves the babies as well.

In the long run, YWAM Minneapolis will need a bigger building (or land) for the bible schools and hopefully the pregnancy ministry, which could be at a different location as well. We are praying and talking about ideas and will see where doors will open up.

Ray had a chat with Mark, who organizes the outreaches in Minneapolis. They are doing a few fun things together with some local churches. One of them is called "Jesus Burger". They are serving burgers for free at the university campus and have fun times and good chats with the students. They advertise it as "Jesus Burger". So, their intentions are clear. Ray will join as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it is in the evening, so I cannot go at the moment because our little sunshine is still dependent on the milk production.

In the meantime, we are joining the prayer meetings during the week and meeting with staff members to get to know each other better.

We really love it here and are excited about being part of this. We know that we came into a really quiet season. It helps us to settle, but we also are looking forward to louder times.
